Stan has a strong background in health care and higher education. Prior to undertaking his Ph.D in pathology, he worked as a clinical medical laboratory technologist in several tertiary care hospitals.

An avid long distance cyclist, Stan raised funds for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by cycling 1200 kilometers twice from Vancouver to Banff. Stan regularly joins friends in Colorado to cycle in “Ride the Rockies”, a spectacular six-day, 600 km tour, a tour he has done five times in recent years.
